Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILC)

Back to Finnish language and culture page

Erasmus Intensive Language Course (EILC) is an activity within Erasmus Programme for preparing Erasmus Exchange Students and students participating in Erasmus Placements for their stay in the host country. EILC is organised in less widely spread and taught languages, e.g. Finnish.

The EILCs take place in the following 23 countries: Belgium (Flemish Community), Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Turkey.

The EILCs organised in Finland are in Finnish language, except two which are in Swedish language. There are no course fees. The courses are also available for Erasmus Mundus students and Comenius Assistants, though the main target group are Erasmus students.

How to apply

Erasmus students apply for participation in an EILC through their home institution. Comenius assistants apply directly to the EILC host institution. The deadline for sending applications is June 1st, 2010. All the EILC applications should be sent to the following address: eilc@cimo.fi, not directly to the organising institutions.

The application form for Erasmus students and Comenius assistants is available from the European Commission's EILC web site. Supplementary mobility grants for Erasmus students participating in EILC may be awarded and paid by the respective sending higher education institutions .
OBS! The EILCs are organised yearly in August. Unfortunately there are no EILCs during winter time.
