Brief Description:

The project network ‘CAFEIN (Central Asian Finnish Education Institutes Network) for Green Biotechnology and Food Security' comprises 5 higher education institutions (HEIs) in Finland and the Kyrgyz Republic. CAFEIN aims to address challenges in food security and development of higher education in the Kyrgyz Republic and other Central Asian countries.

Exchange of knowhow, training and dissemination of good practices and solutions are central to building capacity in sustainable natural and agricultural resources management. CAFEIN aims to integrate new and innovative methods of skills development and training to build the agricultural science capacity, and support and advance agricultural education to ensure a safe, secure, nutritive and sustainable food supply under conditions of global climate change.

The CAFEIN network activities in 2013-2015:

- run a mobility programme targeted to undergraduate and graduate student and staff members in the partner HEIs in the Kyrgyz Republic and Finland;
- run an intensive course ‘Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger' in the Kyrgyz Republic;
- train trainers in course development;
- hold two workshops to disseminate information on the activities to external stakeholders and partners.

Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Target 30 participants, Contact seminars, lectures and workshops/groupwork and online study.

- 2 Disssemination Workshops, tied in with intensive course and network meeting;
- Materials dissemination through website and social media (teaching material and publications).
