General qualifications for all posts:

  • The applicant should have Master's degree and at least two years of relevant working experience.
  • The applicant should be fluent in English, and have knowledge of another official UN language.
  • Due to the training aspects of the JPO/APO programme the applicant should be no more than 32 years of age.
  • The applicant should have Finnish citizenship (if dual citizenship, applicants with Finnish and U.S. citizenship can´t apply for the posts at The World Bank)

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

1. Title: Programme Officer, Child Rights (JPO)
Unit: Geneva Human Rights Cluster, Gender, Rights & Civic Engagement Section
Location: Geneva, Switzerland

  • Master’s degree in Law, Human Rights, Political Science, International Relations or related technical field
  • 2 years of experience at national, regional or global level in a relevant area such as development and human rights, particularly the promotion and advocacy of children and women’s rights, as well as gender and development. Experience in working with regional or international Child Rights bodies and networks is an asset
  • Fluency in English and French required. Spanish an asset.

2. Title: Programme Officer, Education/ECD (JPO)
Sector: Education and Early Child Development
Location: San José, Costa Rica

  • Master’s degree in pedagogy, education, and/or ECD
  • Experience in the field of education, ECD, social development or related field. Prior work experience in the area of early child development would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of latest developments and approaches in education, ECD, child protection and/or social development
  • Spanish language proficiency

Sector: Office of the Director of UNRWA Operations
Location: Amman, Jordan

  • Master’s degree in political/social sciences or other related field
  • Work experience in the specific sector of responsibility or related areas, at least two years at the international level.     
  • Proven ability in drafting, particularly in analytical writing, report writing, and written communication on policy, operational and organizational development matters
  • Working knowledge of Arabic language
  • Knowledge of contemporary political and social issues of the Middle East

  • Master’s degree in natural resource management, resource economics, development studies, ecology or policy analysis background.
  • Knowledge of PES and experience in engaging private sector businesses and markets in natural resource management
  • Knowledge of regional (trans-boundary) initiatives in natural resource management in Africa
  • Knowledge of French is an added advantage

Location: New York, USA

  • Master’s degree in public/business administration, international relations or social sciences
  • Experience in research, coordination and preparation of briefings and talking points. Relevant experience in an international organization can be an asset.
  • Knowledge of French is highly desirable

Sector: Governance and Human Rights
Location: Thimphu, Bhutan

  • Master’s degree in public administration, political science or development related field. Academic background in access to justice and legislative processes is preferred.
  • Experience in the area of development and human rights. Experience in supporting capacity and institutional development is preferable.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
