Brief Description

The overall objective is to strengthen the Institutional capacity of CASS in teaching and research of Geinformatics so that by the end of 2017, they can launch a Postgraduate Master’s Degree programme. The project aims at developing Geoinformatics training and research capacity among the selected staff members of Eritrean HEIs using training of trainers approach, joint research programmes and teacher exchange and mobility. Applicants for the ToT are selected from CASS, EIT, COMSAT and HAC Higher Education Institutions.

The project also aims to increase awareness of Geoinformatics and its applications in Eritrea through information and workshops on data sharing and dissemination of project results. All relevant actors and stakeholders dealing with Geoinformatics in Eritrea will be invited for the workshops. The participants of the workshop will establish a nation-wide network of Eritrean Geoinformatics professionals. It is foreseen that the workshops also assist Eritrean Geoinformatics community to take first steps towards building a National Spatial Data Infrastructure.
