Financial support

Universities outside Finland offering teaching of Finnish language and culture can apply to the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) for two kinds of financial support:

  1. for teaching Finnish language and culture at one university and
  2. for a cooperation project on Finnish language and culture between universities


Financial support for teaching Finnish language and culture

EDUFI grants financial support to universities outside Finland for the teaching of Finnish language and culture. The aim is to promote the teaching of Finnish language and culture at universities outside Finland and strengthen the status of the subject at the universities.

One university can receive financial support for teaching up to EUR 20,000/year, and EDUFI’s support may cover up to 50 % of the teacher’s local salary and employer expenses.

The application period ends on 20 October 2017 at 23.59 Finnish time (+2 UTC).

Financial support for a cooperation project on Finnish language and culture

EDUFI grants financial support for an inter-university cooperation project in the field of Finnish language and culture to universities outside Finland. The aim is to promote the teaching of Finnish language and culture at universities outside Finland by enabling cooperation between universities.

One cooperation project can receive financial support up to EUR 20,000/year, and EDUFI’s support may cover up to 75 % of all project costs.

The application period ends on 20 October 2017 at 23.59 Finnish time (+2 UTC).
