Accessibility grants in the programme for Finnish language and culture

An injury, illness, learning difficulty or other special need does not need to be a barrier to internationalisation.

Accessibility grants are available to supplement scholarships or other financial aid in many programmes administered by the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI), also in the programme for Finnish language and culture.

Accessibility grants are intended to enable mobility in cases where a special need causes such additional costs as are not possible to cover from other sources.

Grants can be awarded for accessible accommodation, for example, assisted mobility or study-related special arrangements such as learning materials.

Who is eligible?

Accessibility grants are intended for those who have already been accepted to take part in an action included in the EDUFI programme for Finnish language and culture.

How to apply for an accessibility grant?

Accessibility grants have a rolling deadline, but we recommend that the applicants submit applications as soon as they have been notified of acceptance into the programme.

Depending on the case, applications are submitted by the participants themselves, the receiving university or by the employer. As the need and nature of the support vary from one person to another, the amount of the grant will be decided case by case. The grant will be paid to the applicant directly (participants themselves, receiving university or employer).

Getting ready

We recommend that the applicants start getting ready promptly. Special arrangements can take time.
