Brief Description:

The ENhHANCE project is a collaboration between the Department of Communications and Networking (COMNET), of the Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering, Finland; the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECED) of the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT), Ethiopia; and the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT) of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Tanzania. The overall objective of the ENhANCE project is to implement specific interventions for enhanced postgraduate education and research capacity within ECED-AAiT and CoICT-UDSM, in the area of networking and communications engineering, so as to better meet needs of the local economy and society. To that end, the ENhANCE project activities can be summarized as follows:

  • Introduction of new courses and pedagogical methods that strengthen the Master’s and Doctoral-level curricula at both ECED-AAiT and CoICT-UDSM;
  • Development of a new Master’s level study programme communications and networking for CoICT-UDSM;
  • Transfer of wireless technology research tools and research methodologies to ECED-AAiT and CoICT-UDSM
  • Introduction new initiatives to the industry outreach programs and enforcing their linkages to the ECED-AAiT and CoICT-UDSM research and education programs.

Brief Description of Dissemination Measures:

  • The industry Telecommunications Engineering program was launched at a public workshop in Addis Ababa on 17th October 2015;
  • An article on the HEI ICI ENhANCE has been featured in Issue 36 of the Projects Magazine;
  • ENhANCE project was presented by Prof. Kundaeli of CoICT/UDSM and Dr. Yalemzewd Nagash of AAiT at the Technology Transfer Alliance conference held in Dar es Salaam on June 2014. . Further details of the conference and the presentation available here;
