Brief Description:

The purpose of ToT- Nepal project is to support Tribhuvan University, Faculty of Education, Tu-FoE to implement upgrading programme for secondary education working teachers. JAMK as a coordinating partner and HAMK University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Tu-FoE will organize ToT training for 62 teacher educators and 7 ICT experts form central campuses along Nepal. Concretely the purpose of ToT is to support teacher educators to plan and implement upgrading programme of working teachers through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) methodology.


The approach for capacity building is that the Finnish Experts facilitate TU-FoE to develop a contextually relevant open and distance learning study model which enables teacher students in different parts of the country to study M.Ed. while working. The project includes a Training of Trainers (ToT) Program for Teacher Trainers and ICTE Experts from TU-FoE Regional Campuses as well as exposure for administrative and management staff from TU-FoE and Regional Campuses.


ToT program will include four face-to-face workshops in Surkhet and Bhaktapur in Nepal, one on-site tutoring visit by Finnish Experts in different Regional Campuses in Nepal, a study visit to Finland in relation to implementation of regional teacher education programs through open and distance learning, as well as working in regional learning circles.

Key Results to be Achieved:

  • A group of 62 Teacher Trainers and 7 ICTE experts from Regional Campuses trained through ToT to implement the training of 13,000 working teachers through ODL methods
  • TU-FoE Teacher Tutors and TU-FoE & regional campuses’ admin & management staff familiarized with procedures of an ODL training model
  • Production of Teacher’s Handbook for Teacher Trainers and of Self-Learning Materials (SLM) for 13,000 practicing teachers supported
