Networking Activities

The North-South-South programme promotes networking of higher education institutions by supporting preparatory and administrative visits and organisation of network meetings. These activities are aimed at improving the partnerships and cooperation.

Preparatory visits

The purpose of preparatory visits is to discuss and agree on the academic content of cooperation as well as the practical issues related to student and teacher exchange and intensive courses. Networks already running may apply for grants for preparatory visits if they, for example, intend to widen their network. Both the academic and other personnel involved in the cooperation at the institutions may participate in preparatory visits.

Administrative visits

The purpose of administrative visits is to monitor and further developnetwork cooperation. Both the academic and other personnel involved in the cooperation at the institution may participate in preparatory visits.

Network meetings

The purpose of network meetings is to develop and evaluate cooperation, and to disseminate results of network cooperation, both from an academic and an administrative point of view. Both the academic and other personnel involved in the cooperation may participate in meetings. It is also possible to support the participation of students.

Network meetings may take place in any of the member institutions of the network. The North-South-South programme encourages networks to arrange meetings in the partner institutions in the South.

It is also possible to organise a joint network meeting together with two (or more) North-South-South networks and to look at the objectives and realisation of the programme from a wider perspective.

The following costs related to network meetings may be covered with programme support: travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of participants as well as costs related to the organisation of the meeting (including premises).

The programme provides only partial funding for network meetings. The networks are encouraged to make use also of other funding sources.
