North-South-South Networks

Cooperation in the North-South-South -programme is based on networks between institutions of higher education in Finland and the South. A North-South-South network should involve at least one Finnish institution of higher education and another from a partner country.

In 2011, a total of 29 networks are funded through the North-South-South Programme. Currently, 24 Finnish and 64 southern higher education institutions from 22 countries participate in the funded networks. The study areas vary from social and medical sciences to art, business and engineering.

Funding for network activities

Programme funding amounts 6 million euro in 2010–2012. Of this, around 60–70 % is intended for student and teacher exchanges, 10–15 % for intensive courses and the rest for measures that support networking and centralised programme management. The programme is funded through Finnish development cooperation aid.
